FOR RESIDENTS & RATEPAYERS
-
Victorian Councils raise around $12 Billion in revenues annually
-
Homeowners deserve lower rates and sensible services
-
We believe in local decisions by local communities
-
We believe state legislation should be funded by state taxes and delivered by state government departments.
Ratepayers Victoria is a not-for-profit association that relies on volunteers to lobby MPs, Ministers, State Government Departments, Councillors and Council CEOs for reasonably priced, sensible Council services for local communities.
Resident ratepayers are often overlooked at the decision-making level of Government and Council because other groups have more money for resources, or full-time staff, to pay attention to issues.
The Municipal Association of Victoria gets funding from the state government and Councils and has full-time staff to lobby and write proposals. Land developers can donate to political campaigns to gain favourable legislation. Council staff have union representatives to push for payrises and working conditions funded by our rates.
Your membership funds are used for basic services for all members, such as this website, to give you information and email accounts so you can contact us.
Committee members receive no pay. We use our own phones, our own time and our own skills and experience. We are committed, professional and persistent.
We welcome new members to help develop policies and spread the word.
