How stupid are some of our local laws.    April 2010

Recently I had the opportunity to appear on National television

This day Tonight Channel 7

That program highlighted some of the ridicules actions taken by councils

Perhaps the worst was where the council place a concrete park bench right in the middle of a residential driveway, or the case in Whittlesea where the owner of a rural property after a recommendation from the local fire department to remove the many rocks that were scattered around his property to avoid fire truck damage.

Council ordered that the rocks be replace in there original position and also that a water tank connected to a shed to collect rain water be place inside the shed.

There are many cases simular to the above that could be resolved by negotiations but council attitude is we are the authorised authority so do as you’re told

As for ward councillor representing there constitutes for get it you would be lucky if you could speak to them on there council owned phone.

Remember those pre election promises like “we will represent you on council  I am always contactable” .What a joke, as for community consultation what a farse.

Or the new breed of young councillors many of them have never had a paid job and yet the control $million of rate payers funds.

What happen to those councillors that had some life experience and had some knowledge of the business world.

It is of concern that so many of our Mayors were under 25 year’s young.
