Reading comments with interest. The Rate Payers of Werribee South Inc which represents  horticultural activity in the rural/urban fringe area together with a small isolated  township is still alive and continuing to communicate with Council on issues relative to delivery of services to rural areas, rural roads, consultation or lack of it, the abolition of the Farm Rate differential, the social exclusion caused by Melb 2030/Green wedge policy and Council MSS, Council advocacy on behalf of the farmers relative to all year round availability of ‘fit for purpose’ irrigation water/price of irrigation water etc. Our communication process has been improved markedly since the new Ward is now represented by three Councillors.

One thought that comes to mind is that RPV (Rate Payers Victoria) should seek from affiliates a comprehensive list of issues raised with their Council including those that have received attention and those still outstanding. This information could be used by RPV to communicate with the MAV (Municipal association of Victoria) and respective Govt. Ministers and shadow ministers and the press.

I for one feel that a State body is necessary and we would continue to be a financial member and continue to communicate on issues from our patch by email.
