July 2006

Dear Jack,

Thank you for the e-mail, I still view RPV as an important body representing all Ratepayers throughout Victoria.

RPV cannot afford to represent Ratepayers on a narrow range of issues, I would suggest that RPV be representative on a number of fronts,

Rates and Taxes,

Council expenditure,

Over development due to Melbourne 2030,

Inappropriate Development

Cost Shifting at all levels of Government,

Planning and VCAT issues,

Whatever affects Ratepayers in Victoria, RPV should get involved to some degree.

E-mail's would appear the best vehicle for the exchange of information, if all members are on the mailing list, this will enable all members to be kept up to date, whenever one initiates an e-mail all members will receive it and can comment if they so desire or maybe give some further information that will be of assistance to others. I feel that a web page defeats the purpose and requires someone to maintain it and keep it up to date, all of which is time consuming and of very little use to anyone for the exchange of information, my recommendation would be to scrap the web page and concentrate on emails as they don't require any maintenance at all.

I will continue to be a financial member of RPV, although I believe the yearly membership fee's should be altered to $25.00 for an association and $15.00 for an individual.

Maybe RPV could have two meetings a year, one of which could be the AGM.

Outer metropolitan area's could be represented by elected delegates who represent more than one association or area and are able to attend the AGM they can also carry the proxy votes from each area in relation to committee elections etc.

This doesn't prevent members in other regions from having a meeting that is dedicated to their specific area and criteria, any resulting decisions could then be

e-mailed to all members throughout the State, some of who may have similar concerns.

Whatever the decision, you have my support.

    Regards

    Peter Baird
